Who we are
We make visual content accessible to persons with visual impairments. We are a young innovative company operating in the digital space, providing a 360 degree solution, from AD content creation to AD delivery through our mobile assistive app “ShazaCin”. We are South Africa based and a first in Africa.
Our Clients
Our clients are Video content creators, Film makers and distributors, television Broadcasters Artists authors and publishers of illustrated works. All that you see, we can describe!
Our Team
Our team is a diverse mix of talented graduates–age, gender, ethnicity and disability. We are AD award winners and skilled in film, IT, business, disability and human rights. We are passionate about audio description, accessibility and inclusion.
SHAKILA
MAHARAJ
Shakila has her M.A. in Organisational Psychology from Columbia University, New York, and is a blind social entrepreneur with 40 years experience in the disability sector and 10 years in Audio Description, researcher and globally recognized disability strategist.
MTHOKOZISI NTSHINGILA
Mthokozisi has a B.A. in Film and Motion Picture. Responsible for AD content development at ShazaCin, he has 3 years of experience in AD.
Prashant MAHARAJ
Prashant has a BSc in Computer Sciences and is the Technology Development lead at ShazaCin with 3 years of AD experience, and responsible for the ShazaCin app.
DEBORAH
EWING
Deborah Ewing is an author, editor, researcher and advocate for inclusive development. Deborah has a BA Hons in Politics and Theology. She has more than 30 years’ experience in media and human rights programming. Deborah’s role at ShazaCin is editing, quality assurance and scriptwriting.
Jeremy Opperman
Jeremy is a blind diversity practitioner specialising in disability inclusion since 1999. He has a background in sales and marketing and is passionate about all applications of Audio description
Tracy Smith
Tracy is a Deafblind person who has acquired expertise in AD verification to ensure that AD scripts are both understandable and enjoyable for the blind viewer.
She plays an important role in testing and verifying content for the ShazaCin App. Tracy also administers the ShazaCin AD Movie Club.
